Discover the intensity of PGI Modican chocolate from Sicily. Donna Elvira adds Sicilian chilli peppers to give this bar a bit of a kick. The peppers add a warm, spicy note to the dark, crumbly chocolate. 

Enjoy a square or two after dinner with espresso or Italian liqueurs. You can also melt it in milk to make an indulgent hot chocolate. Simmer it on the hob and whisk gently until the chocolate is completely dissolved.

Modican PGI chocolate is made using ancient Aztec methods. These techniques were brought to Sicily by the Spanish in the 16th century. Stone ground and cold pressed, the chocolate has a rich flavour and grainy texture.

The grains are due to the fact the chocolate is processed at very low temperatures, so the sugar crystals never fully dissolve.

Modican chocolate is the first in Europe to receive the PGI mark (Protected Geographical Indication). PGI certification is awarded to products with a unique quality linked to their geographical origin.
